Danish artists Marianne Vesterled and Tue Holmgaard, under the name of VESTHOLM, have received growing recognition for their work.
In their photographic art, they portray scenes of complex eroticism. With their inspiring stories and bold imagery they will excite your curiosity and imagination.
VESTHOLM contrast the morally forbidden with social norms and conventions often with surreal, even absurd, elements. They find inspiration in sources as diverse as Renaissance art, the work of Danish painter Vilhelm Hammershøi, and John Willie's fetish illustrations, but also draw on popular culture in a light and humorous fashion.
VESTHOLM's works bear witness to their artistic and technical skill. Select environments and furnishings become part of a scenography that results in highly suggestive arrangements. The seamless lighting creates an almost unsettling cleanliness and presence. The models are portrayed with a raw but affectionate sense of physicality, enigmatic and inapproachable, telling stories of desire and empowerment.
The result is a compelling, almost incongruous visual language a glimpse into what unfolds below the surface, in the depths of dream and imagination.
